On Thursday 2 July 2026, we gave a panel presentation on Climate Conscious Lawyers at the 2026 Australasian Law Academics Association Conference “Educating the Reflective Lawyer: Human Wisdom in an Automated Age”, held at Melbourne Law School between 1-3 July.
The panel, “Educating Climate Consciousness in Administrative Law, Equity & Trusts and Land Law” included the following speakers:

The ground-breaking, open-access, online book Becoming A Climate Conscious Lawyer has been progressively published since 2024. With all chapters now freely available online, and metrics revealing over 27,000 views to the Admin Law chapter alone, this session takes colleagues on a whirlwind tour of some key chapters from this innovative educational resource. The panel brings together the renowned authors of the three chapters on Administrative Law, Equity & Trusts and Land Law. Presented in a candid and conversational style, this panel seeks to engage colleagues who teach in these fundamental and compulsory law subjects to consider ‘how’ they might embed climate consciousness without reinventing the wheel. How to include climate change issues without adding ever more content to already packed subjects? Is it even possible? How to engage students through tutorial questions and assessment tasks without going off on tangents? How is climate change relevant to this Priestley subject and its long list of required topics.
