On 9 August 2024, Heidi Butters-Stabb, Senior Learning Librarian at La Trobe University Library, presented to the Australian Law Librarians Association conference in Adelaide on “Mainstreaming Climate Change in Legal Education using OER and Open Textbooks”. The ten minute “lightning talk” introduced Becoming a Climate Conscious Lawyer and the broader Climate Conscious Lawyering project to an audience of law librarians from across Australian and New Zealand. Focusing on how OER allows Becoming a Climate Conscious Lawyer to develop as a living textbook, and the possibilities afforded by this model, Heidi discussed the flexibility this has brought to the publication timeline for the book and the plans for a educators companion volume of activities and case studies to be used in teaching.
